We left the park, dropping out of the mountains to Lake Jindabyne, a huge reservoir, and then to Cooma. We’d left the rain behind and this area was very hot and dry. The locals here seem very keen on English poplars, and every stream and canal has its row of them.
We were in the Canberra area to visit an ex-neighbour of ours from Tilehurst, and a co-worker at British European Airways back in the early 70s.

We camped for the night in their driveway, and said our goodbyes after breakfast.
