Saturday September 3rd
We were off on a family trip to the Minnesota Zoo.

We called our son and we all met for dinner at the Hilltop Restaurant, close to his house. He’d brought his scanner home and diagnosed our truck as needing its exhaust particulate filter cleaned; something that could wait until we got home.
Sunday September 4th
We took a walk around Lake Calhoun with downtown Minneapolis on the skyline. I’ve been there many times but I’d usually be running a marathon or a 25K, so it was nice to see the area at a slower speed. It was humid and warm with a nice breeze for part of the walk. The area was busy with people, but the trails around the lake are directional and dedicated to walkers, bike riders, runners, etc, so mostly people seem to avoid collisions.
Labour Day Monday September 5th
We had thunder and a lot of rain overnight. We took a walk over to Meadowbrook Park, squishing our way along wet trails. The side trails were just too wet so it was a shorter walk than we’d hoped. After lunch I stayed home but the others went shopping at furniture stores;
Thinking that there’d be few people eating out on a Monday we returned to the Hilltop that evening only to find it packed and we had to eat on the patio, no hardship.
