2005/06 Alaska Trip - Road West - Introduction |

We haven’t seen our new neighbours in Midland Avenue yet, but there was a light on in the house the evening before we left. If they were there then they probably think that the crazy people across the road always do their grocery shopping at 1 am and pack their trailer at 3. We’d had a few too many problems to fix in the house, truck, and trailer, and it had been a very wet and humid day, slowing down the laundry’s drying.
The grocery shopping had been more complicated too as Sandie had just had a high cholesterol report from the doctor and was busy checking the labels on all the food. It looked like I’d be forced to eat all those dangerous bratwurst, hamburgers, and garlic bread that we’d already bought.
We were getting ready for one of our longest trips, out west to British Columbia, north through BC and the Yukon, and then a loop through Alaska, back though the Yukon and BC, over to Vancouver Island, and back home via Alberta. John and Edna were going to join us for the Yukon and Alaska legs, so we were taking our trailer and elderly Suburban for the trip, rather than the motorhome. This “part” is the story of our leisurely journey out west and our time with Bob and Pat and with Karen, Stewart, and Evan.
